Most Azerbaijani banks suspend money transfers from Russia

Most of the banks operating in Azerbaijan have suspended operations through Russian-owned payment systems Contact and Golden Crown.

banks.az reports that currently banks do not conduct cash and non-cash transactions with rubles.

Money transfers from Russia to Azerbaijan and in the opposite direction are carried out in other foreign currencies.

In addition, restrictions have been introduced on interference in ruble accounts in banks and withdrawal of funds from ruble accounts. And for transfers from one account in rubles to another, a maximum limit has been introduced.

Nevertheless, Ivan Sitnov, director of the Golden Crown money transfer service, said in his statement that there are no changes in transfers: "Golden Crown works in Azerbaijan as usual, we are in constant dialogue with our partners. All payments are made regularly in any currency."
