- 02 February 2022
In 2021, the trade turnover on e-commerce platforms in Azerbaijan increased by 68% compared with 2020.
banks.az reports that this was stated at a press conference by Ayhan Gadashov, the head of Internet portal Azexport.
According to Gadashow, the pandemic contributed to the growth of this indicator, since during this period the entire business switched to an online environment.
"In 2021, online trade for over $7 bn was carried out in Azerbaijan that is by $3.32 bn, or 68% more than in 2020," he said.
Gadashov noted that the number of bank cards also increased in the country.
"At the end of December 2021, the number of bank cards in Azerbaijan reached 11.04 million cards. This, in turn, contributes to the growth of e-commerce in our country," he said.
