Overdue borrowers to be able to borrow again
- 30 May 2025
The concept of a "blacklist" in banks has been officially abolished in Azerbaijan, banks.az reports, quoting chief economist of the Association of Banks of Azerbaijan, Azizaga Hagverdiyev.
He noted that now banks no longer have a special "blacklist". If a citizen's current financial situation allows him to repay the loan, he can be given a loan.
"However, before giving a loan, banks check the customer's credit history. If there were previous delays or problems with payments, this may affect the decision to issue a loan. However, this does not mean an automatic failure. Banks assess the risks and make a decision," Hagverdiyev stressed.
The ABA representative also added that if there were problems in your credit history, but now you have a stable income or a reliable guarantor, banks may consider giving a loan.
"Additionally, by providing collateral or other guarantees, you can increase your chances of getting a loan," he said.
