Baku Stock Exchange market capitalization hits record high

The market capitalization of the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) hit a record high last year, rising to 4.3 billion manats, banks.az informs, citing the BSE.

For the first time in the 21-year activities of the BSE, the trade turnover in 2021 exceeded 15 billion manats, totalling AZN15.3 billion.

A record volume in the issuance of corporate securities (excluding mortgage bonds) was registered, and 33 placements to the tune of 376 million manats were made.

Twenty-six corporate securities (excluding mortgage bonds) totalling 350 million manats were placed on the Baku Stock Exchange in 2018-2020.

The volume of repo transactions in 2021 amounted to 7.2 billion manats, the highest turnover in recent years in the history of the Baku Stock Exchange. Thus, in 2018-2020, this figure amounted to a total of 3.8 billion manats. The ratio of the BSE's total trade turnover to GDP rose to 18%.
