Number of payment cards increased by 206,000 cards

The number of payment cards in circulation in the banking system increased by 206,000 cards last year up to 13.257 million.

banks.az reports with reference to the Central Bank that this is by 20.1% more than in 2021.

Growth of payment cards was 18.7% on debit cards and 29.4% on credit cards. Compared with 2021, the number of salary cards grew by 144,000, credit cards by 414,000 cards, and other cards by 1.6 million.

The growth of payment cards had positive impact on the volume of non-cash payments. Thus, the volume of non-cash transactions within the country doubled against 2021.
